About Manlab

Manlab is a far cry from what/who we were when we opened shop over 20 years ago. These days, we call ourselves (after much debate) an interactive design studio and when asked what does that mean, we respond with "we make things."

We started in 1986 as Manlab Instrumentation, an engineering company specializing in the design and manufacture of medical laboratory equipment in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. (Man-Lab; get it?) We designed circuit boards, programmed EPROM chips, and wrote PC-based software to analyze the data. As the medical industry changed, we started to shift our focus to PCs, networks, and multimedia. Come see our basement some time - it's like a PC mausoleum.

We were there during the early days of the Internet, providing web programming services to government, business and education in Manitoba from the outset. Manlab became a full-service interactive design studio in 2002.

One time we even made a human-powered flying device. It promptly met a watery demise.

Today, our practice spans creative & technical strategy development, branding, design and programming combined with the know how to integrate any or all of them into relevant, unique solutions for our clients and their customers.

Come visit our laid back, casual office near Assiniboine Park in Winnipeg and we'll take you out for an ice cream as we ponder our future together. And we promise we won't suggest building anything that flies. Maybe.
